Training Log - September 27, 2007

Today’s training walk was unique among all of my walks. This one took place in the rain. Not a late summer/early fall gentle rain no… this one was one with periods of heavy downpours and occasional thunder. That last part was one that I wasn’t sure I wanted to deal with. There was only one instance that concerned me. About ¾ of a mile and around 10 minutes into the walk there was a bright flash followed about 2-3 seconds later with a clap of thunder that sounded like a firework shell exploding.

I’m not so sure that I shouldn’t have just stopped right there and got back to my car but I continued and there were no more “close” calls. The rain continued and by the second mile I was soaked to the bone. There wasn’t a spot on me that was dry. Of course, as I finished up – the rain stopped!

Did 3 miles today in 49:31 with a pace of 16:14 min/mile.
