Training Log - May 30, 2007

It's hard to believe that the month of May is almost over! It seemed that we spent the first four months holding on until May came. In my mind, May is the month of spring. We don't get too many snows in the month of May in Central Ohio. April is always good for one or two accumulations.

Today we were about as far away from thoughts of snow as you can be. The temps here were around 90 degrees. The humidity was also beginning to show itself. The walk today at Creekside went well. It was a nice sunny late morning and it was about 78 degrees. I was thankful that I decided to bring a white shirt to walk in. By the time I was done, it was 84 degrees and the air seemed to be a warm blanket around me. I completed the 3.05 miles in 50:40 minutes. That is a pace of 16:37.

I received notification that my brother and his wife went online and made a contribution to support me. I'm not sure if they want the amount to be public so I will just say "THANKS" to Mike & Patty and also Zach and Jacob. It means a lot to me.

I have signed up for a challenge on the JP Fitness forums to help me stay on track with my fitness goals and my training schedule. I will be posting my training here as well as my half marathon training. I will title the JP Fitness posts as "Challenge Log" and continue to post my walking log as "Training Log". I hope that everyone is now thoroughly confused.

I will say that one of the benefits of this training is of course that I will lose weight. I weighed myself this morning and I was 341 pounds. That's down 6 pounds from about 2 weeks ago !!! Less weight to carry over the 13 miles.
